A Kharkiv resident will be tried for fraud: he promised to get a man a job at the State Emergency Service with mobilization deferment for 100 thousand UAH. The perpetrator was apprehended immediately after receiving the money.

The Prosecutor's Office of Kharkiv Oblast has submitted an indictment to the court against a local businessman who demanded 100 thousand UAH for facilitating employment at the State Emergency Service (SES) with exemption from mobilization.

According to the investigation, in July 2026, the man offered the victim assistance in obtaining a job at the State Emergency Service in the Kharkiv region and promised to secure exemption from mobilization, assuring him that he had influential connections among officials responsible for personnel selection. Subsequently, he requested to receive photos of documents, informed that the candidate's application had supposedly been approved by management, and even inquired about the size of clothing and footwear for uniform production.

The businessman insisted on a quick transfer of funds, constantly calling, demanding a meeting, and threatening negative consequences if he didn't receive the money. In early August, law enforcement officers arrested him in Kharkiv immediately after receiving the agreed-upon sum.

The actions of the accused are classified under Part 3 of Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (obtaining an undue benefit for influencing the decisions of officials, combined with extortion). He faces a sentence of up to 8 years of imprisonment. The case will be heard by the Saltyvsky District Court of Kharkiv.
