The Donetska settlement council in the Kharkiv region cancelled a tender for the purchase of a Mazda CX-5 service vehicle for 1.36 million UAH. This decision was made after the Kharkiv Anti-Corruption Center reported a procurement of a vehicle worth approximately $30,000.
The village council planned to purchase a Mazda CX-5 with a 2.5-liter gasoline engine, an automatic transmission, and front-wheel drive. This would be the second vehicle of this model for the community: the village council had previously purchased a Mazda CX-5 two years ago, in November 2024, for 1,280,000 UAH.
In official documents, the city council explained the cancellation of the tender as a result of the lack of further need to purchase this vehicle. The tender was announced on October 14, and was cancelled five days after publication by the Kharkiv Anti-Corruption Center.
According to the Kharkiv Anti-Corruption Center, the announcement of this tender took place after Prime Minister of Ukraine Serhiy Korchinsky's statement about stopping spending on non-essential items. The government has urged local authorities to also identify priorities in their budgets and limit spending on items that are not currently considered essential.
