In the village of Sahnovshchyna, in the Berehinsk district of the Kharkiv region, a 38-year-old woman attempted to kill her mother due to a family conflict regarding living arrangements and the upbringing of a child.
According to the Kharkiv regional prosecutor's office, the woman had premeditatedly prepared for the crime. She wore medical gloves to avoid leaving fingerprints and took a gas canister and a wooden stick with her. When the mother went outside, the attacker approached from behind and struck her approximately ten times on the head. After that, she sprayed the victim in the face with tear gas.
Despite the serious injuries and bleeding, the woman managed to grab a bat. Then, the attacker pushed the mother to the ground, sat on her, and began to suffocate her with a wooden stick. A passerby, who arrived on the scene, forcibly removed the attacker from the unconscious mother. The injured woman was immediately taken to the hospital, where doctors were able to save her life.
The suspect was arrested and formally charged. During the court hearing, she completely denied her guilt, claiming that she had allegedly attempted to provide medical assistance to the victim, and that the injuries were caused by an unknown person. However, the testimony of the victim and witnesses, the records of investigative experiments, and the conclusions of expert examinations completely contradicted her statements. It was also established that the suspect immediately after the incident changed her clothes and attempted to conceal the bloody items. The court found the 38-year-old woman guilty of attempted aggravated assault and sentenced her to eight years in prison. Pending the final judgment, she will be held in custody.
