Kharkiv region: Traffic lights have been turned off in Derhach and Malodanilovka due to the activity of FPV drones.
In Derhach and Malodanivka, near Kharkiv, all traffic lights have been turned off due to the high activity of Russian FPV drones. Drivers will need to follow traffic signs and the "right-hand rule" at unmarked intersections. The restrictions in Malodanivka are in effect from October 7 until further notice; the day before, drones attacked trucks on the Kharkiv-Zolochiv highway, injuring a driver.
In the Derhachiv and Malodanilov communities on the outskirts of Kharkiv, all traffic lights have been temporarily turned off. This was announced by Vyacheslav Zadorchenko, head of the Derhachiv municipal military administration, and Oleksandr Holoholov, head of the Malodanilov community.
According to them, the reason is the high activity of Russian FPV drones, which regularly attack civilian vehicles in this area. The decision was made for safety reasons: it is intended to reduce the time that vehicles and pedestrians spend at intersections and prevent traffic congestion.
In the Malodaniliv community, all traffic lights were turned off starting on October 7, and will remain off until further notice. The decision on when to turn them back on will depend on the security situation.
Mykhailo Zadorozhko stated that on October 6, drones attacked several trucks on the Kharkiv-Zolochiv highway several times. In one case, the driver managed to escape before the vehicle caught fire, while in another, the driver was injured and hospitalized. According to local media, in the Derhachiv and Malodanilov communities, FPV drones are attacking vehicles almost daily.
Drivers are advised to follow traffic signs indicating priority, and at intersections with equal traffic, to adhere to the "right-hand rule." Pedestrians are urged to be extremely cautious, as the usual traffic flow at intersections has changed.
