The government has allocated over 15 million UAH in aid from the World Food Programme of the United Nations for the purchase of equipment for 203 frontline school canteens in six regions, including the Kharkiv region. This will help improve the nutrition of primary school students. In the Kharkiv region, the modernization of the school feeding system is also ongoing, with a factory-kitchen in Lozove opening in September 2026.

The Ukrainian government has allocated over 15 million UAH in aid from the World Food Programme of the United Nations for the purchase of equipment for school canteens and cafeterias in 203 frontline educational institutions.

The support will cover schools in six regions: Zaporizhzhia, Mykolaiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Kherson, and Chernihiv. According to Ukrainian Prime Minister Serhiy Koritsky, this will help improve the conditions for food preparation and the organization of meals for primary school students, particularly in communities near the front line.

The project is fully funded through international aid and does not require additional spending from state or local budgets. The government has expressed gratitude to international partners for their support in this area.

In the Kharkiv region, despite the full-scale war and difficult security situation, the modernization of the school feeding system continues. One of the largest projects is the factory-kitchen in Lozove, which began operating in September 2026. Its capacity allows for the preparation of 18 to 25 thousand meals per day for over five thousand schoolchildren from four communities. The renovation of school canteens also depends on security conditions and is carried out in facilities that have shelters.
